As you keep track of your own play, it is important to understand that you do not know it all and there is every possibility that one or more your opponents are as good, if not better, than you at the game. Though you may recognize obvious mistakes and the like from other players, you never know if these are honest mistakes or faux mistakes designed to lure you into a false sense of confidence. The truth is to be found at the end of every hand. If you are not the one winning the most hands, then you are not the best player at the table, regardless of luck. The proof is in the chips and if you are steadily losing your money, then plainly it is time to change your game and better scrutinize those who are winning.
Recognize Your Own Limitations Changing long standing strategies and styles of play can be difficult, especially since it is almost inevitable that you will lose a couple of hands that might have won if you had played your normal game. Nevertheless, as noted above, if you are not already winning most of the hands then your standing game play is not effective and you have to develop an alternative even if this means some losses. Further, you should never be afraid to make a move that is necessary to change your game: raise, call, and fold as needed to change your game. It may take some time, but assuming you already have a good sense of how to play, you should be able find your game fairly quickly.
